I want to create learning experiences that change the way we think about science. These active learning experiences generate the powerful thrill of discovering how the world works. By experiencing science as a process of discovery, instead of memorization, I believe more students will see science as an exciting career option. Furthermore, students who have these experiences will see the value of science to society and then we will truly have a science literate population. To that end, I’ve been developing games, simulations, and other active learning exercises and using them in my courses. Each term these go through another iteration of improvement furthering their capacity to explore complex and abstract concepts and, ultimately, fostering a passion for inquiry.
